We will be holding several workshops over the coming months to develop umpires of all levels.
Our 6v6 Umpiring courses are fun, and engaging, and cover the fundamentals of umpiring, including theory and practical. The theory session covers the rules and explains the role of an umpire on game day. The Practical session is to reinforce the learning of the rules in real time to consolidate understanding. This module is the minimum level recommended for umpiring Year 5-6. Junior umpires in Year 7 & 8 are encouraged to attend, as well as Year 9+ umpires who are umpiring Year 5-6 matches.
Our 7v7 courses are suitable for those who are new to umpiring or would like to refresh or have a better understanding of the principles of umpiring. You will learn how to identify and use umpire communication tools more effectively, identify areas of control, and manage protocols and match responsibilities.
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
- Understand basic umpire positioning and vision
- Demonstrate a basic application of the rules of the game
- Demonstrate the actions that an umpire takes when a player infringes
- Demonstrate umpire skills and how to reflect on performance to develop as an umpire
Junior umpires in Year 9 or above are encouraged to attend our 7v7 course.
