About Our Junior Netball Coach Role:

We have several roles available for Junior Netball Coaches in our After-School Netball Programme 2025. As a Junior Netball Coach you will be responsible for a team of junior netball girls; leading weekly training development sessions and coaching at games. We run around 15x teams during the winter season. Our main training day is Monday afternoons 3:30pm-4:30pm, though we have some different year levels training on different days. All training sessions are based at the Junior School campus and games are played on Thursday afternoons at the Auckland Netball Centre in St Johns. The coach role can potentially span February - November or part of this period. Pre-season training sessions start in late February, we then move into trials in March / April. Winter netball runs from late April through to early September. There are also opportunities to continue coaching up until early December in our summer netball programme. We can provide you with training content and support, and you will be part of our junior netball community, as teams train together, you don’t need to be out on your own. Do you have a positive, responsible, nurturing manner with lots of energy, initiative and some past or current netball experience? Then, we’d love to hear from you.

About Diocesan Junior School:

Diocesan School for Girls is a private independent school centrally based in Epsom, Auckland. Our Junior School campus is for girls from Years 0-6 (approximately 4 to 11 years of age). We promote participation, fun, development and performance in sports.

Benefits:

  • We offer support to our coaches through our ‘hub’ programme run by our Head Netball Coach and overseen by our Junior School Sports Manager.
  • We provide a fun, positive, respectful, learning environment with a great culture and supportive community. You’ll have fun and it’s immensely rewarding.
  • Teams from each year group train together at the same time so coaches work together.
  • We can pair you with another person to share the load if that helps.
  • Training content is provided to some extent and there is also an opportunity to adapt and deliver specific content as required.
  • Each team/coach is supported by a Team Manager who handles all communications and logistics. All you have to do is coach.
  • Our location is central, making it easy to get to via public transport or by car.
  • If you are a bit rusty about junior netball rules, skills and techniques we can bring you up to speed so don’t worry about the details too much. A positive attitude will go a long way.

Qualifications:
Previous netball playing experience is preferred. Previous coaching experience is preferred but not essential. Other sports coaching experience will be considered.

Availability:
If you don’t know your availability yet for 2025 but are interested then please go ahead and apply ASAP anyway. We may have other netball coaching opportunities beyond the dates and times specified here.
